But before she could do anything, an explosion shook the guardhouse, knocking her from her feet. The boom came from somewhere above them, probably someone tossing a hand grenade on the upper floors. She huddled in the corner as the walls shook, some bricks falling from the ceiling. Dust and masonry bits drizzled around her, making her cough.
